About Doctors Health Initiative
Doctors’ Health Initiative is a human rights organization made up of medical doctors and other professionals committed to serving human life by building healthy, free and just societies. Our service is aimed at the development and maintenance of healthy families; the fundamental units of societies.
It is within the family that a man and a woman learn to live in genuine freedom and solidarity, together pursuing their shared goals of personal wellbeing and good quality of life. Given that the pivotal role of the woman in the family and society cannot be overemphasized, meeting the many challenges to women’s health is our top priority.

Freedom
Every human person, by virtue of his/her dignity has a fundamental right to freedom. The freedom to make choices is one of humanity’s greatest assets yet also a source of society’s greatest challenges. Protecting this fundamental freedom for every citizen and family is a cardinal duty of government.
Integrity
Every human society needs citizens of integrity for sustainable development. Every individual thrives when his/her development is characterized by physical, mental, emotional and spiritual growth centered on core values. This process takes place most effectively within the family – custodian of core values.
Respect
Every human right derives from the dignity of human life. Authentic development of society depends on respect for the rights of the human person and the family. Undermining the rights of any person undermines the rights of all. Consequently zygotes, embryos, the disabled, elderly, etc. have rights which must be respected.
Dignity
Every human being has an intrinsic and absolute dignity and value which is independent of any human condition(s) e.g. age, health, physical, social or financial status. This dignity is unalterable as no human community can grant or rescind it.
Progress
Every human endeavor is aimed at moving the individual, family or society forward in wellbeing and quality of life. The products of both manual and intellectual human labor ought to be at the service of the human person. The political community at all levels is obliged to protect its citizens and families from policies that impact negatively, sacrificing their progress for the service of the economy and/or state.
Our Goals
Providing compassionate healthcare, education, and community outreach to build healthier lives and stronger communities.
Crisis Pregnancy Centers
Creation of an active and effective network of Crisis Pregnancy Centers to afford pregnant women in social distress much needed help and support.
Post-Abortion Counseling
Provision of Post-Abortion Counseling services to address the psychological and emotional trauma that women, men and families experience from past abortions.
Human Sexuality Education
Effectively promote a comprehensive understanding, appreciation and expression of human sexuality on the tried and tested means of sexual behavioral change.
Emergency Obstetric Care
Establishment of a network of Mobile Emergency Obstetric Care Providers to initiate life-saving intervention for pregnant women in obstetric emergencies so as to decrease the dismal maternal mortality rates.
Develop TV/Radio Programs
Develop a monthly reach out program on TV and radio for parents and adolescents to educate them on love and life skills. This would lead to a strong working relationship with the media which is necessary to achieve all our targets in an effective manner.
Health Outreach Services
Carry out quarterly health outreach services to under-privileged communities in Nigeria.
